Congress to make rising prices its main electoral plank in Gujarat local bodies, municipal polls

Gujarat Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki has said that the party would make rising prices and crisis arising out of the flood in some of the districts and drought affecting the farmers in other parts as its chief electoral plank during local bodies and municipal polls to be held in November as declared by the state election commission on Friday. Addressing media persons here on Saturday, he said that the party would also raise the failure of state government in completing the construction of 50,000 kilometers of the Narmada canal for taking irrigation water to farmers fields, and poor health and educational facilities, besides unemployment among educated youths, as poll issues. He said that the party would take strict disciplinary action against those indulging in anti-party activities. The Congress leader said that the names of candidates on 80 per cent of the seats had already been cleared and the names for remaining 20 per cent seats would be cleared in the next few days. He said that the party at a meeting today discussed the strategies to be adopted to improve its performance in the polls.
