Gujarat Congress hand over the memorandum to H.E. Govn. of Gujarat on Tribal issue
Gujarat Congress leaders and tribal MLAs of the party met governor of Gujarat, O P Kohli, on Monday and submitted a detailed memorandum regarding key developmental issues of the tribal communities in the state. State Congress president, Bharatsinh Solanki, leader of opposition (LOP) in the state assembly, Shankarsinh Vaghela, and tribal leaders met the governor. In its memorandum, Congress said that the state government is not performing its duty under the Forest Rights Act (FRA), Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act, 1996, or PESA and not spending enough according to the constitutional mandate to allocate funds for tribal welfare under Special Tribal Sub-Plan.Congress also raised issues of health in tribal regions, drinking water crisis, and poor education.
