AMETHI/LUCKNOW: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has countered Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim that the country’s economy is on firm footing. Addressing party workers in his parliamentary constituency Amethi, Gandhi on Friday stated that the PM was “day dreaming”.
“The GPD has come down, lakhs of people have lost their jobs, but the PM says the country is on the right track,” he told party workers from Amethi, Rae Bareli and Sultanpur on Thursday . Audio clips of the meeting were shared by the party workers on Friday . “Pata nahi kaun se track ki baat kar rahe hain Modiji… Pata nahi kaun sa sapna dekh rahe hain Modiji. Duniya bhar ke economist se le kar chhota dukandar , sab chilla chilla ke keh rahe hain par Modiji sunney ke liye taiyaar nahi hain (I wonder what track the PM is talking about. I wonder if he is dreaming. From economists all over the world to small shopkeepers, everyone is saying that the economy is not in a right state but Modi is not ready to listen to anyone),” Gandhi said.
He reportedly told party workers to counter the BJP and the RSS on issues of unemployment and agrarian crisis. He criticised the PM for making “fancy” plans like bullet train. “The amount going in this single project is enough to revive the railway network in the country ,” he said.
