New Delhi, Dec 20: Congress President Rahul Gandhi, who made Gujarat his second home during Assembly elections, will visit again the state to attend a three-day meeting starting on Wednesday to review the party’s failure in the recently concluded polls. Along with the party president, other senior Congress leaders are also expected to attend the meet, scheduled in Ahmedabad.
The grand old party will analyse in detail why it failed to dislodge the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has been ruling Gujarat for 22 years.
Earlier on Tuesday, Congress president Rahul Gandhi had termed the election result of Gujarat a massive jolt for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Addressing media a day after Assembly elections results, he said that Congress may have lost the election but put up an impressive performance. Raising question on PM Modi’s credibility, Rahul had said,”Modi ji has a credibility problem. People don’t believe in Gujarat model anymore. Yes, we lost but Gujarat’s people taught me not to stoop low even if the opposition is ruthless.”
Of the total 182 Assembly segments in Gujarat, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday bagged 99 seats whereas the Congress secured 77 seats while its allies got three more.
